How to help high schoolers not be so fat

I am a senior in high school and every year it seems that kids are getting fatter and fatter. The youth in America are very unhealthy and do not exercise. I think we have a problem. How do we get kids involved in exercising? One idea is that we could offer a Physical Education credit for participating in a sport. This will get kids more involed in their high school and free up a class course so they make study a different subject during that period. If a student participates in a sport they would develop more friendships and hopefully prepare themselves more for whatever they strive to do in college. The one main point I am trying to make is that something new needs to be tried to push the majority of American students into better fitness.

You have a good point but wouldnt it just be easier to take gym and not be in a sport? Because people can slack off in gym but not so much in a sport. But i love how you said they are just getting fatter and fatter. Jeez, haha how about using a nicer term like obese. Fatter just seems so mean! haha.

Centerville does already offer credits for playing a sport

Yea america is one of the most obese countries in the world. Having 4 yrs. of physical education throughout highscool could be a possible soluiton too.

I agree with Chesea that kids could slack off in gym. we should have gym for all four years of high school.

Yes, I Know that People slack off in phys. ed. so it would be easier. But the point is to help high schoolers get in shape and to open up high school class schedules by not having to take P.E. during school. That's why playing a sport would be more beneficial to their health. By playing a sport you get in better shape than by just being in a p.e. class. When I played soccer and ran cross country I lost about 15 pounds.
